How To Have Razor Blade Last For More Shaves No comments yet

If you happen to be paying approximately$ 4 a blade for the latest Gillette or Schick 4 and 5 blade razor, you want to be sure you get your money’s worth and make those blades last. If you can get more shaves per blade as well as retain the razor sharp you’ll be able to save cash. So after doing some digging around, I’ve located a number of handy guidelines you can use to make your razor blades last longer.

The strongest solution is to have your blades dry after using them. The Chicago Tribune reviewed all the ways for prolonging the life of razors but observed the best method which worked was to dry your razors following using them.

The science behind it is that razors become dull due to oxidation and mineral deposits more than from shaving. While water stays on the blades for prolonged periods of time, the razors oxidize. This leads to corrosion and it can trigger metal on the razor to flake off and result in the blades to turn blunted and jagged.

Blot your discount razor blades dry with a towel once used.

You can double your shaves for each blade merely by making use of this one method. This will maintain your razor blades sharper longer.

You might also want to store your razors outside the bathroom to keep away from contact with steam when you take hot showers.

Some other tips to increase your shaving comprise rinsing the razor repeatedly. Be certain you use warm water to soften up your whiskers. Let the shaving cream sit for a moment before you begin to shave.

You can furthermore dip the blades in alcohol before you blot them dry. The alcohol drives the water out and then promptly evaporates leaving you having a spotless blade all set for the following shave.

Thus the next time you shave with the best Gillette razor, dry it off before you set it away.

Some people are not used to self winding time pieces, so we have written a help manual in the form of a brief guide to answer some of the questions we are often asked.

Your local watch dealer will only be happy to give advice on how to take care of your self-winding watch.

How they work?

As you walk/run an internal spring is charged by the rotating action. It is the ‘power’ in this spring that keeps the watch ticking even when it is not being worn. When off the wrist it commonly takes a couple of days for a for a self winding watch to need re-energising. You can buy a ‘watch winder’ box for £100 plus which will keep the watch in motion whilst not in use for extended periods and therefore charged.

What next?

When first wearing the watch we would advise on fully charging the watch by pulling the crown out and rotating it atleast 25 times - this way your wrist movement keeps the spring charged but you start from the optimal position. Even if the watch is still working ok it is a good idea to give it a full manual wind again every couple of months If the time piece has a date setting this can be done when the date needs changing.

These watches are generally regulated to + or - 3-5 secs/day - this is known as the COSC standard. These seconds can add up over time so don’t worry if you are a few minutes out in a month – this is normal. The more you wear the watch and the more it gets used to your movement patterns the more accurate it will become. It is ironic that a £5 digital watch will keep better time than a £5000 Vintage Rolex Watch but that isn’t the reason why we love them?!?

With waterproof auto wind up watches the crown must be pushed or screwed in to be waterproof - a screw in crown this need only be ‘finger tight’.
