Thankfully, my application as a volunteer to help The Turtle Foundation on Boavista was accepted, and I’m due to fly out for a whole new adventure and life experience for 7 weeks in Cape Verde on the 3rd August as the Turtle laying season just heats up and there’s reports coming in of masacred Turtles on some of Boavistas paradise beaches.. It is not that difficult to find a contract office cleaning company for your premises but finding the right one takes a little more skill and patience. Do you really know what to look for in a cleaning company? It is not always that straight forward. Do you already have a good checklist of questions to ask when you contact the cleaning company?

Do they understand what it is that you need? Before any office cleaning service agreement is reached, a manager from the office cleaning service should come to your company offices and discover your specific needs. If they don’t understand what you are looking for how will they pass on instructions to the actual cleaners?
If you are planning some special visit e.g. your board of directors visiting your regional office or a open day for customers will the cleaners work around that to give special cleans before and afterwards?
Quality control inspections.
There should be scheduled and spot checks throughout the office cleaning contract period. The contract manager should make a planned visit at designated intervals early into the contract. This way, any initial problems can get resolved quickly. There should of course also be random checks by cleaning managers throughout the length of the contract. Cleaners should NOT know in advance when these visits are taking place or they may drop standards immediately after one inspection only to pick up again when they know an inspection is due.
Communication channels should be available to enable you to contact cleaning managers quickly easily and that they responsive. You should always be able to contact the cleaning company for any problem. It is also important to understand how your calls are going to be handled and that you will be confident that your issue will be dealt with promptly and professionally at all times.
