Glue guns can be bought in low temperature and high temperature hot-melt versions. Low temperature units heat up to about 120º C and are more suitable where a high temperature is undesirable. High-temperature units} heat up to approximately 195°C and produce a stronger bond. Also on the market are dual glue guns which include a switch so that both low and high temperatures can be utilised for different purposes.
For industrial applications, there are a broad range of heavy duty industrial glue guns available which are designed to optimise production efficiency. These units range from high output pneumatic industrial glue guns to adjustable temperature units.
Glue sticks are available in several different diameters for different varieties and sizes of glue guns. The most common size has a diameter of 11mm. Glue sticks are also available in various lengths, from about 10cm upwards. However, most glue guns will accommodate glue sticks of any length. Hot melt and low temperature glue sticks are available for the different types of glue gun. Hot melt adhesives do not contain any solvents or water. They set when they drop in temperature and this means that they can set quickly.
For industrial purposes, different types of glue sticks are available for specialist uses. The commonest diameters are 12 and 43mm. For home use, there are only a few types of glue sticks that are available. Glue sticks have different open times, which is the time taken to form a bond. This varies from a couple of seconds to a few minutes.
Glue guns need to be turned on several minutes before they are used so that the heating element and adhesive can warm up. As the glue stick increases in temperature it melts and then it can be used to bond different materials together. Care should be taken when operating hot glue guns as hot glue can be dangerous.
There’s an old, full of both wit and reason, that really rings true: “Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die.”
So why is it that we appear to want to live forever?Well, if you can believe Dr. Sanjay Gupta, author of “Chasing Life” and CNN’s Senior Medical Correspondent, we don’t.
It turns out that our real quest is not eternal life on earth, according to Dr. Gupta, but instead, the ability to lead an exceptional life.
After interviewing some of the leading authorities on life extension and anti-aging, Dr. Gupta discovered three “universals” — three vital principles that each researcher deemed crucial to extending our lives naturally at the same time as empowering us to live exceptionally. These three principles are as follows:
- Weight training
- Good nutrition
- Having purpose and positive thinking
Jon Benson, author of “Fit Over 40″, explores each of the three principles in great detail, as well as asking over 50 men and women how they have managed to slow the hands of time down to a virtual crawl.
Benson does not waste time with hype and hypothesis. Instead, he chooses to focus on real-world examples and applications that we can all use to slow down the aging process and help prevent, and even reverse, the conditions that often lead to disease.

The standard IRS tax deductions are an option that can eliminate the need for you to itemize your tax return. But, taking the standard deductions when filing your taxes may not always be the best way for you to file.
How much is the standard deduction?
The standard deduction amount will be affected depending on how you file, your age, any disabilities, and whether or not you can be claimed by another taxpayer. Annually the government will adjust the standard deduction due to inflation. If you are either single or married but filing separately your standard deduction will be approximately $5,350.00.
If you are married and you file your returns jointly or you have a dependent then your standard deduction will increase to $10,700.00. If you claim head of household your standard deduction will then be $7,850.00. Your standard deduction may also be decreased if your annual income exceeds a certain amount.
When to use standard deductions?
Taking the standard deduction may not always be beneficial for you. If you realize that you have a larger deduction with itemizing then you should itemize your return. If you find that you have more deductions by taking the standard deduction rather than itemizing then you should go with the standard deduction. You may not be able to take the standard deduction if you file separately and your spouse itemizes or if you are a non resident of the United States.
