I really have not had any time to post on my site quite as much as I had expected, owing to the fact that I’ve been roped into helping my Dad fuel his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. Okay, I guess it isn’t as far out as it could possibly be. You see, what he did was to get himself dressed up like the Fonz or something, and drop by to my crib and proclaim to me, in his jazziest possible vocal tone: “Come on in, dude, you and I are going out scouting for some classic Mustangs for sale. No joke, youngster, I’m finally going to get myself a real cruiser.”

So next we went out to some of those wild classic car sales lots that most people are mostly convinced are part of some organized crime ring, and I watch the crazy old guy wrote a check right there on the spot, for an alarmingly sparkly classic mustang. It’s an impressive purchase. It made some great noise too.

You’ll notice I wrote that in the past tense. It sounded amazing right up until it rendered itself silent. The old man tells me that it’s a really simple thing to fix and all he needs is the right part. I’m thinking, it is not as painless to come across 1966 Mustang parts as it was over a million years ago, but he insists that there’s a really sizable market for them in spite of their age. From what I’m told the the best bet for finding parts for classic Ford Mustangs is via web auctions, because you can get them refurbished and occasionally better than new. They’re only sometimes a steal, however… I mean, they are 30-year-old automobile parts.

Not as bad as some midlife crises, I suppose. He might’ve decided to buy a volkswagen bus.
